Sclerotherapy treatment (vein injections)
Sclerotherapy is a method of treating various forms of varicose veins: a dedicated solution — a sclerosant — is injected directly into the affected vein, and under controlled conditions the vein collapses and gradually disappears.
The result is often visible right away; an elastic bandage is applied to the injection area for better healing. Temporary pigmentation may appear at the puncture point and usually passes within up to two weeks.
Indications include small superficial vessels, dilated capillaries anywhere on the body, vein nodes and small-calibre subcutaneous veins. A fine needle or a mini-catheter is used; the result holds long-term.
Every medical procedure carries risks and possible side effects. The clinic doctor will explain them before treatment.
