Support in Tbilisi

ליווי צמוד בעברית מלאה

I live in Tbilisi — and when you arrive, I am already here

I am an Israeli living in Tbilisi, and I accompany patients in Hebrew from the moment they first write to me through the end of the treatment, the journey home and the continuing contact with the clinic.

Facing a new country, a foreign language and a medical system you are meeting for the first time, you have one point of contact who speaks Hebrew and knows the ground from the inside.

I help you understand what the doctor is proposing, how much the treatment will cost, how long you will need to stay in Georgia and what to do if questions or problems come up after the treatment.

My job is to organise the whole process, to translate clearly and precisely, and to be beside you when you need help. The medical decisions are made by the doctor.

Who is responsible for what

The doctor

The doctor determines whether treatment is needed, by which method it should be carried out and what suits your case. The medical decision is his, and it is made after he has studied your materials.

The clinic

The clinic carries out the treatment itself: the staff, the equipment, the treatment room or the operating theatre and the conditions of treatment.

The support — me

I am responsible for the communication: coordination with the clinic, translation into Hebrew at appointments and in correspondence, and making sure you understand every stage before you decide on it.

Why I work with these particular clinics

Every clinic I recommend, one of the family has been treated at personally.

Dentistry, plastic surgery, hair transplantation and aesthetic treatments — my wife, our children or I have been patients at these clinics.

We first came to them as ordinary patients. Cooperation began only after we had got to know the doctors and the clinics from our own experience.

My criterion is a simple one: I recommend a clinic I have come to know from the inside, from the patient’s chair.

I know how patients are received there, how the doctors talk, how the treatment is run and what happens when a problem comes up.

The question that settles it for me is a single one: where would I send my own family.

If a problem comes up, I am the one who will have to deal with it — and that is why I send you to a place I am prepared to stand behind.

And I go on living here after you return home.

What the support costs

My work is paid for by the clinic

My work is paid for by the clinic.

You pay only for the medical treatment, directly to the clinic. The money goes from you to the clinic.

Before the trip you receive a preliminary treatment plan, an approximate price and the expected treatment time.

The final medical decision is made by the doctor, after he has studied your medical materials and, where necessary, examined you in person.

I pass on to you what the doctor said, and the decision stays with you and at your own pace.

If the doctor says that the treatment is not needed, that it is too early for it or that it is not right for you — we do not fly.

Better to find that out free of charge, at the preliminary review stage, before buying plane tickets.

How it all works

1

You write to me

You can write to me on WhatsApp or Telegram.

You tell me which treatment you are interested in, and I explain which information, scans or documents the doctor needs.

In dentistry, for example, a 3D CT scan and a few photographs of the teeth and jaw are usually needed.

For plastic surgery, hair transplantation and aesthetic procedures the requirements differ.

For plastic surgery and cosmetology no tests are needed before the flight: they are all done at the clinic in Tbilisi. You do not queue for appointments at home and you do not collect documents — a short description and photographs of the area are enough.

The initial assessment is based on the photographs and your description, and the final price is set after the examination at the clinic — that is how it works in any case.

2

The doctor studies your case

I pass your medical materials to the relevant doctor at the clinic.

I usually answer your message within 24 hours.

A preliminary answer from the doctor usually arrives within 48 hours, depending on his schedule at the clinic.

You receive the doctor’s opinion, a preliminary treatment plan, an approximate length of stay and the price.

If something is unclear from the photographs, the doctor will ask further questions. No tests are requested in advance — they are done at the clinic.

3

You speak with the doctor directly

Before you buy any tickets, you can speak with the doctor who will treat you.

The conversation is with the doctor himself.

I join the call and translate your questions and the doctor’s answers into Hebrew.

You will understand in advance what the doctor proposes, why he recommends this treatment, which other options exist and what matters before a decision.

The trip is decided only after you have a medical opinion and clear answers to your questions.

4

The clinic reserves a date

Once the treatment plan is agreed, the clinic reserves the doctor’s time for you.

To confirm the booking, a deposit of 200 dollars is paid.

The deposit stays with the clinic, because it holds the doctor’s time, a treatment room or an operating theatre for you and keeps them free.

Up to the moment of payment the decision remains entirely free.

Before paying you should receive the price, the indicative duration of treatment and the main terms.

5

You arrive in Tbilisi

You book the flights and the accommodation yourself.

I will help you choose a convenient district and plan the dates correctly.

You may stay in any district that suits you, as long as you allow for the journey and arrive at the appointed time.

I will meet you at the airport and arrange the transfer back before your flight home.

How many days you need to stay in Tbilisi is decided by the doctor.

It is usually between 5 and 12 days, but the exact period depends on the type of treatment and on your personal plan.

I will be with you at the clinic

Most of the doctors speak English, and the Hebrew in the consulting room is mine.

I am with you at the appointments and translate the conversation with the doctor inside the consulting room, right beside you.

That way you can understand what the doctor is about to do, which materials he uses, which limitations there are after the treatment and what needs to be done during the recovery period.

I translate what the doctor says in full, including the parts that are less comfortable to hear.

When it is your health that is at stake, the information has to be conveyed clearly and precisely.

If you would like to be alone with the doctor, just tell me and I will step out.

The support can be provided by a man or by a woman — as the patient chooses.

At appointments and treatments where a woman might feel uncomfortable with a man present, my wife will be with the patient.

We decided this from the outset: a woman coming for plastic surgery or an aesthetic treatment should feel comfortable with whoever is in the room with her.

Paying for treatment

You pay the clinic directly: in cash, by card or by bank transfer, in accordance with its terms.

If you choose a bank transfer, it is better to send the money at least 24 hours before the procedure. An international payment can take one to two business days to arrive, and the clinic begins treatment only once the funds have been credited.

After the treatment you will receive medical documents describing the procedures performed, the materials used and the doctor’s recommendations.

If the documents are needed for an insurance company or for a doctor in Israel, tell me in advance. I will check with the clinic which format is required before you leave.

If something goes wrong

I will say it plainly, as it is.

Medical responsibility lies with the clinic

The warranty and the medical obligations for the treatment are given by the clinic.

My responsibility begins exactly there: when a problem comes up, I stay in the picture until it is closed.

If something happens, you write or call me.

I contact the clinic, pass the information to the doctor, help arrange a further examination and translate the instructions you have been given.

The exchange with the clinic goes through me in Hebrew, even when you are already back home in Israel.

What to do if your condition changes after the treatment

If after the treatment you feel a sudden deterioration or an unusual reaction, the first call is to the local emergency services where you are.

A doctor who sees you in person is the right address for an urgent situation.

At the same time you let me know, and I contact the clinic and the treating doctor, pass on to them what has happened and translate into Hebrew the instructions that come back.

That way the doctor treating you in Israel and the doctor in Tbilisi have the same picture: what was done, with which materials and what is happening now.

Ordinary questions and organisational matters are dealt with during the day.

The warranty terms should be seen in advance

The terms of repeat treatment and of the warranty are set by the clinic.

They must be recorded in writing in your treatment plan or contract before the main payment.

It is particularly important to establish in advance which cases are considered covered, for how long the warranty runs and which costs the clinic covers if a repeat visit is needed.

It is worth receiving these terms in writing and keeping them.

After you return home

Contact with me carries on after you have landed back home

After you return to Israel we stay in touch on WhatsApp or Telegram.

After surgery you also receive the personal phone number of the surgeon himself, in addition to mine.

In an urgent situation the first call is to the local emergency services; from there it carries on with the surgeon and with me.

If there are questions about the recovery, if a photograph needs to reach the doctor, if you need an additional document or want to understand a recommendation you were given — you write to me.

I pass the information to the doctor and come back to you with an answer in Hebrew.

Some treatments are carried out in several stages.

A standard dental implant, for example, usually takes two visits.

During the first visit the implants are placed, and temporary teeth as well if needed. After that the implants need time to integrate.

Several months later you return to Tbilisi to have the permanent crowns fitted.

The exact interval between the stages is set by the doctor, and the waiting period between them you spend at home in Israel.

At the end of the treatment you receive documents you can show to your own doctor in Israel: which treatments were carried out, which materials were used and which instructions you were given.

Which medical materials to send

For plastic surgery and cosmetology, photographs of the area and a short description of what bothers you are enough. Tests and scans are not needed — they are done at the clinic in Tbilisi.

The exact set varies according to the type of procedure. Once I understand what is involved, I give you a precise list for your case.

If you already have earlier medical documents, send them — but it is not a requirement. From the photographs and your description the doctor gives an opinion and an approximate price before you buy plane tickets.

I pass the materials to the treating doctor so that the case can be assessed.

Why I explain all this in such detail

I understand what it feels like to fly for treatment to an unfamiliar country, to a doctor you are meeting for the first time, in a foreign language.

So, before the trip, it matters that you know:

who is going to treat you, how much it costs, who is responsible for the medical side, who will be with you at the clinic and what happens if a problem comes up after the treatment.

Instead of promises and big words you receive facts, and time to think them over.

First comes a medical opinion, a treatment plan and clear answers.

Only then comes the decision.

Frequently asked questions

Can I speak with the doctor before the trip?

Yes. A conversation with the doctor can be arranged before you buy plane tickets. I take part in the call and translate into Hebrew.

And if the doctor's conclusion is that the treatment is unnecessary for now?

Then you stay at home. That is what the preliminary review is for: to establish in advance whether the treatment is necessary and right for you, before you buy tickets.

Who is responsible for the results of the treatment?

Medical responsibility lies with the clinic and with the treating doctor. I am responsible for the support, the translation, the communication and help in dealing with the clinic.

What should I do if questions come up after I return to Israel?

Write to me. I pass the information to the doctor, help you obtain an answer and assist in getting the documents you need.

Are flights and the hotel included in the price of the treatment?

Flights and accommodation stay in your hands: you book and pay for them directly. I help you choose a suitable district and plan the dates properly.

Who accompanies women for personal or sensitive treatments?

The support is as the patient chooses — a man or a woman. At personal appointments and treatments my wife is with the patient.

What should I do in an emergency?

If there is a significant deterioration or a condition that requires immediate treatment, contact the local emergency services straight away. At the same time you can reach me, so that I can update the doctor and the clinic.
